A narrow northeast trending, northwest dipping quartz vein, located 50 m south of Fault Lake, yielded a gold value of 0.25 oz/ton in 1986, and was subsequently relocated, sluiced, and chip sampled (Figure 9). The vein, which proved to be only 2 m long, narrowed from 3 cm in width to a hairline fracture filling over this length. A chip sample (#105143) taken along the full length of the vein yielded a surprising 1.05 oz/ton Au. The vein is an opaque white quartz fracture filling with a very light rust stain. A chip sample of wall rock (#105144) returned a moderately anomalous value of 141 ppb Au. [AF-74A01-0119_1988_Giant Yellowknife Mines].
A narrow (6 cm wide) quartz vein, located 200 m due east of the north end of Fault Lake, yielded a gold value of 2050 ppb from a grab sample. The vein strikes 205° cross-cutting local stratigraphy. No follow-up work has been carried out at this site.
