Mr. Mitchell has worked in the mineral exploration industry for 38 years. From 1985 to 2001, he was employed with BHP-Billiton, first in gold and base metal exploration and later with the discovery team of Ekati. Since 2001, he has been an independent consulting geoscientist.

Wayne Mitchell started working with field crews in mining exploration in 1987. Since 1995 he has been an independent consulting geoscience technician, specializing in remote operations development, for clients across Canada and abroad (Greenland, Finland). He has worked for clients from start-up to mine development stage on projects such as Ekati (NWT), “Ring of Fire” (Ontario), Lalor Mine (Manitoba) and most recently the PLS high grade Uranium development in Saskatchewan.
